Pre and Post Natal Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal, hormonal and biomechanical changes during and after your pregnancy can put new strains on your body. A large number of women experience pains throughout or following pregnancy, that could be addressed or even prevented by physiotherapy.

Here at Fit and Flow Physiotherapy we have extensive experience in assessing and treating common pregnancy related pains, including but not limited to:
  • pelvic girdle pain including SIJ dysfunction and pubic symphysitis
  • lower back pain and sciatica
  • thoracic and rib pain
  • wrist pain (carpal tunnel or de quervain's)
  • abdominal seperation (rectus diastasis) or abdominal weakness following a caesarian section
  • pelvic floor pain or weakness

Treatment will often involve gentle soft tissue and/or manual therapy techniques to relieve your pain, taping or bracing to help support you through the rest of your pregnancy and specific exercises or postural advice aimed at reducing further aggravation at home!
